Indian Day At The Indian Motorcycle Museum in Springfield, MA

Just back from the 2nd annual Indian Day at the Indian Motorcycle Museum in Springfield, MA today. The turn out of classic and race Indian motorcycles was good and the temperature was hot – well over 90 degrees and sunny all day.

A rainbow of Indian motorcycles

There were about 30 or 40 old Indian motorcycles ranging from a very early Camelback up to at least one last year model 1953 Indian Chief.

A few racers, a paratrooper Papoose and some of the new Gilroy Indians too.

Butch Baer was there with his modernized Indian Four motorcycle

My old pal Butch Baer was there with a few of his bikes, including this modernized Indian Four with a front disc brake, electric start and more. Wild!

A wonderful Goulding sidecar and others behind it

And, yes there were several wonderful Indian & sidecar rigs being ridden around there.

This Indian Scout is ready for motorcycle races!

The wide assortment of machines was quite impressive with plenty of Indian Four cylinder motorcycles and even this rare single cylinder World War II paratrooper’s Indian Papoose motorcycle. Sort of gets lost next to a Four.

If y0u can, I highly recommend this event for next year. We will be doing more coverage of this event in the pages of American Iron Magazine later this year.

Thanks. I really love that classic Indian 101 Scout. motorcycle. It runs good, handles great and doesn’t look bad too.
