Done for the Season, Classic Harley Projects Starting
Well this weekend was the weekend… winterized and done for the year. 30 degrees, rain/snow and a thin coating of ice on the back pond.
It was a short riding season for me this year as I didn't get the bike running till around September. Even though it was only a few months of riding, it was better than the last 3 years of the bike collecting dust. This Classic American Iron forum was a great help as I tried to learn the ins and outs of a bike with 20 more years than I.
While it might be done for the season, I am planning some projects so my old Harley isn't so lonely sitting up on that stand. After making it through a couple of months of riding there are some things that I need to do to feel a little better in the summer to come. The main item for the winter is a new set of wires. As posted in the forum, I have extra/new wires and some type of terminal board that needs to be addressed and removed. I plan on ordering a new set from a recommended shop called Ziggys Motorworks. The second project will be to pull both of the old Harley wheels off and rebuild the hubs. A little bearing check and some new grease will be in order. This will give me a chance to check out the brake pads too and make sure everything is up to snuff.
These couple of projects will lead to some questions in the forum, and also quite a few blog posts here. I'll make sure to keep everyone posted as each project starts and what I learn over the next few months digging into the unknown!!
