Classic Motorcycle At A Car Show?

My Classic 1930 Indian Four Motorcycle

My Classic 1930 Indian Four Motorcycle

Over the years I have been involved in a lot of car and motorcycle shows. Sometimes as the publisher of the world’s best selling Harley magazine– American Iron Magazine, sometimes as an owner and rider of a classic Harley or Indian motorcycle (like my 1930 Indian Four motocycle.) And no matter how high end the car show the classic motorcycles – from perfect restoration to ratty “survivor” original paint beasts – are always popular.

As a life long enthusiast of motorcycles, mostly classic motorcycles, I am happy to share my bikes and encourage other owners to share their vintage Harley and classic Indian motorcycle collection with others especially in the more popular car show and concours events.

When I was recently approached by the good people at the Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance here in Connecticut I wanted to hear what they had to say. And basically I liked their approach AND the fact that one of the two founders (John Shuck) is a serious motorcycle guy in his own right.   So, to make along story short, I agreed to join their advisory committee and help coordinate and promote the motorcycle field for the 2009 event. The dates are September 12 and 13, 2009.

We are still working out all the details, but basically American Iron Harley magazine, this classic motorcycle forum, and RoadBike are all signing up as sponsors of the motorcycle field, which we are planning on growing from 20 to 40 bikes for 2009.

If you are interested in being part of this, with a motorcycle or not, please let me know and I’ll pass the info along.

Last year the motorcycle field at the Fairfield County Concourse consisted of the following motorcycles:

  • 1914 Harley A

Buzz, I have restored several old Knuckleheads and Panheads, (1941, 1947, 1948), but my true love has always been the 1930 Indian Four. It truely has the sexy and racey looks of the Ace combined with the Indian. I am always looking but I know I would have to sell everything I own to get one. Some day!!
Thanks for the great web site!! I am always getting or giving info.
