    VL sidecars, information needed

from a local member i can buy a Vl sidecar.

its the frame only, looks to me as a package frame.

Can i use the package frame to build a passenger sidecar ? i know that this frames are a bit bigger than passenger sidecar frames ?
i read somewhere about 2 passenger sidecars, what can i build from this frame ?

You can build a 2-passenger sidecar, Arjan. The body is just like an LT body, but wider. It is big enuf for two children, or one very plump adult; one who would not fit in a regular 1-passenger sidecar.
Or you could build a commercial sidecar with an advertisement, like in the old Earlyriders photos: a big photographic camera, or a car battery or an oil can or something.
Or you could build a Dead Horse Wagon, a flatbed "truck" (lorry) to carry full-sized motorcycles.

That is an "LE" sidecar frame, for the EL and UL models (36-7 and later). The body is early, like what your need for the "LT" sidecar, Arjan, but the frame is later. They're mis-matched pieces. The frame is for a double-downtube Knucklehead/U-model and panhead, up to a 1957 rigid-frame bike, and to 1973 (when used with a rubber bushed rear sidecar mount in the round swingarm). The frame for LS has the third member, the high one, right by the bike's seatpost, not under the neck.

thanks Sarge, nice sidecar but not for my 36VL

Its hard to find a correct sidecar for the VL here in Europe.

I heard and read about the Goulding replica sidecar, will that one fit a VL ?

Yes, it will. It was the same sidecar sold from 1929 by Harley-Davidson for their 45". It's was called the "LS" sidecar by Harley, but they would fit any Harley or Indian, 45 or 74, with correct connectors. Probably wouldn't be too "light" for a VL, as V's carry the weight they have down low. (Low center-of-gravity) but it is lighter than the LT model.

Yes, it will. Through 1936; single downtube frame, and with adapters, even EL-UL-FLs to '57.
