Thread: looking for pictures of 60/70s choppers Specifically Molding pictures

The thing that scared me the most on my 30 inch over 52 pan was interstate 480 @ 75 MPH hitting a series of dips. Sucker started "flexing" beyond the spring travel ! Had to stand up on the pegs to get it to stop ! The digger type like ness bikes are floppy [ front tire wants to lay over]. My pan had a 4 inch stretch in the downtubes, two inch in the seatpost. The tall frame treatment enabled me to keep the front end more verticle, handled better. Man did that bike get the looks !

Man I hate those tanks that sit up high on the frame or molded to the frame.

Yeah SUgar Bear is the man, If I could afford one of his springers I would build a bike with a 20 over front end. But the 12" over wide glide is what I got so it is what I will use. for sure I will have some added to the down tubes on the frame (maybe 3-4 inches) then the rest will be out to make it sit pretty level with the motor in it. Thanks for all the replys and keep em coming.

Hey red, sb from the shovelhead forum. I have some pics of a particular bike I have always thought had the best molding work I had ever seen. When I get to work on Monday I will post the pics of it.

I've never ridden a long bike, so I don't know
Sugarbear springers with their distinctive rockers are well known for their superior handling. The rockers are not just for show. They put the trail right where it needs to be for the best handling.

Exactly. And Sugar Bear knows his stuff-- he's been doing it for decades!

That's how it was done in the 60s/70s--- didn't you notice the title of this thread?
