That trophy was actually awarded for a Southwest regional race series. Its about three feet tall! The final race of the season was at San Angelo, TX, but the races were all over the Southwest. Used to be lots of racing in the old days. Not like now where there is hardly any. Guys did it for the satisfaction of doing it, not fame and fortune. Flattrack every weekend, drag racing, TT and enduros, roadraces at old air strips, dry lake runs. Pretty much all gone. And all done on old iron that was often ridden to the races and then ridden home. Now all anyone wants to do is ride to the bar or do a "Love Ride" with hopes of being seen or meet a celebrity. No dedication to the sport. And "Lifestyle"? What a crock! People lived the life then, and it had nothing to do with "factory licensed" clothing, accessories, and cookie cutter bikes.
OK, I'll get off the soapbox now, it doesn't do any good anyhow!
