    Hello from Somerset

Hey People New to this site. I have spent a lot of time working and reworking my 06 Softail. I would like some opinions on "adopting" an older Harley. I have some interest in 68-74 Sportsters and 80's Shovelheads. I would be doing all the work myself so if you guys know any partiuler bikes to avoid it would be appreiciated. American Iron is currently doing over a shovel and this project seems doable. Thanks for reading this and any help you can give.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with a classic Harley. Most of them are fairly basic and you can learn about them and keep them running with some basic hand tools and a shop manual. And yes, we at American Iron Magazine are doing a $5,000 shovelhead project to show how it can be done without a huge budget.
