Thread: New Project - 1984 FLH

Re: New Project - 1984 FLH

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.

7 years ago when I brought this home I had a vision of what it would be, and it worked out to be beyond even my high expectations at that time. It was a very satisfying project in many ways.

The last of the breed at HD; iron barrels, 4 speed frames were all on their way out, but the 84 FLH/X/S gave the old Shovel one last going away party, and it was a good one!

You did a great job Dave, and I get what your saying about the 84 being the last of it's breed, kind of like my 64 in it's way,...

I thought this picture of the 84 turned out especially good. Also I made a walk around video a week or so ago.

Beautiful bike, would you be related to a Swanson at 2954 east 91st Chicago, Ill. Circa 1948.

Nope. The Swanson side immigrated in the early 20's. First stop was working a farm in Iowa, then they came to Rockford. IL, but never Chicago.

Thought I’d take a chance. Found a post card from Hines V.A. Hospital about a Swanson wanting to sell his bike.

After almost 10 years of looking for this points cover I finally tracked one down at this years Davenport meet! I know what you 36 knuck part hunters feel like!

Someone will probably chime in now and say they have a drawer full of NOS covers!

Anyway, the restoration of the 84 FLH is finally done done!
