    Rivet Setting Tool

    List,

I ordered a rivet set tool from V twin today (22 bucks), its a punch with a concave end used to make rivet heads (rear sprockets). Save yourself some money, the tool is made by Mayhew (USA) part number 403. You can get it from safetekusa.com for $6.12. Tell em Joe sent ya (just kidding about that part).

PS do you heat rivets before peening them or just do them cold?

Joe, thanks for the tip. I went searching at the website you named, but no luck. Maybe you can post a direct link to the catalog page? Thanks..

I always heated um up, at least with a Bernz-o-matic home style gas torch, got them glowing, and set them. Then, as they cool they shrink, ending up tighter than you could ever get um by peening um cold. Have never had a sprocket come loose doing it with heat.

I just googled safetek. Got Safetek USA dot com (first corporate listing). Went to "online store" > "product finder" searched for mayhew 403. Narrow by manufacturer "Mayhew (1)" it sez. narrow by category "Industrial Products." Took a couple of tries, and "illustration no longer available." but it's $6.12. Good luck! Weren't easy!
