I've seen that plenty, where guys force the pump body off without removing the outer key and it acts as a broach and cuts a notch in the pump.

Wow. Must have been like that for many years as i've owned the bike for 30 and never had the pump off. Looks like the bike is off the road now until i find another pump, [email protected]%k

Another thing i noticed now i have the pump off is 2 small holes have been plugged up with what look to be small nails or pins, why would someone have blocked these off? Was the pump used on a different bike previously maybe?

Here is a shot of a pump with the holes not plugged.

Any ideas why these 2 holes were blocked off? What purpose did they serve?

When it's time to re-install the new pump, due to the tolerances involved with the gear heights, i was not going to coat the gaskets with anything, is that what you guys do? Install them raw?

Also, just measured the gears and the Scavenger Pump Gear measures .503" whereas my books, including Palmers say it should be 0.500 With the gaskets being 0.010 that would cause a problem. Do they make these gears in oversize increments?
