Thread: John Brown headlight

    John Brown headlight

    Greetings
I am working on a 31 VL and wound up with a John Brown motolamp for it. Unfortunately there is no wiring inside and no contacts for the bulb, other than that the light is in great shape. Does anyone have a picture of the inside of the light they can post. I have a piece of wiring from an original harness that I think is for the light, it had soldered loops on it, the light has no where to screw these loops, so I'm back at the beginning with no answers.
    Thanks
    Max

Ok, any idea what the plug inside the light is supposed to look like.

Thanks, I read through the entire thread, very enjoyable and well done. I'm doing a 31 so most of the information is the same. As far as the John Brown headlight goes, the original one that I have has a different setup for the bulb and socket. The screw in the back of the headlight is attached to the bulb socket, the wire inside the headlight as well as the contact plate are long gone. I'm not really sure what they look like or how they attached to the wiring, but it doesn't currently look like the one in the picture of the reproduction. The pictures of ones for Indians look different as well, and I haven't been able to find many of those either.
    Thanks

Mine came like this, which looks home made. I'd be interested to see/hear what you find out.

The 31 VL Motolamp was the same as Indian used it except for the "Indian" scrip in the bezel that Harley did not have. I have attached pictures of a correct reflector and the focus parts in the shell.
