If anyone is at the auction and has time to look over a few lots for me I’d appreciate it
    Thanks

I have never seen an original tank where the paint went inside of thew filler neck. They usually stop about 1/4" from the top.

    Times have changed for sure.
Not that long ago the (maybe slightly above) average LEO could have spotted that restamp. In the unlikely event that bike made it to auction, chances are at would have been confiscated at some point, and at the minimum, the left side case destroyed.

That tank is right as rain.

I'd say congrats were in order. Either the buyer authenticated it or the seller persuaded the well off aficionado that it was worth it. Anyway, a real boost in the britches to museum quality Knuckle owners. Not for me though, my pile"o"parts is just a cool rider.

I never paid attention to the inside of the fill neck. But I’ve sold 3 nos 37 tanks, 3 nos 40 ul tanks and 28 nos wla tanks and they were all painted to the top of the fill neck.
