I'm not sure what Palmer book you're referring to, but in neither his 'militairy' how to-books (Both vol I and II) nor in his 'civilian'-how to books does BP mention a first batch of 900 or do WLC's produced in 1941 with either the long 10" oil bath air cleaner or the black-'n-chrome Speedo which both were on the 41WLA...

But hey...it's your bike and if you like it do so.
    Both parts are easily exchanged.

Here is the information on the speedo Palmer book vol 1. My bike does come with some 41 features like the black and silver speedo (wlc4800 built Nov 1941, which motor number is way higher than mine). I am still working on the figuring out the airfilter the picture of the prototype 42wlc was 41wla7655 and if you look at the original photo of that bike as a 41wla it has the tall airfilter (and is changed in the edited wlc photo). Im not saying anything special about the first 900 but my bike falls into a spot where they were using up the last of a 41 run so I theory it could have more 41 parts. Unfortunately the info and pics are not as easy as the wla. my research continues

    Your bike looks great!

I'm building a '43 WLC.. I wish I had the right front fender.
