Is a Linkert brass or bronze?

Discussion came up yesterday on FB and curious what you kids think. I've always assumed they were brass and Palmer states the same but there seems to be quite a few in the bronze camp. Panic?

Brass is a combination of copper and zinc.
Bronze is a combination of copper and tin and other metals.
In days gone by I worked in a lab with mass spectrometers where you could sample the mass and percentage of elements in the atomic chart.
Science can give a definitive answer, others are guessing.

From an engineering perspective, brass makes a nice decoration, belt buckle, musical instrument, etc. but has poor wear properties.
The India-made Royal Enfield single engines used brass for the rocker blocks, which failed within a few hundred miles. I heard that the replica panhead rocker assemblies used brass blocks (the rockers were OK), and failed quickly. The H-D panhead blocks were bronze, and many still good enough 70 years later.
Coincidence that the H-D part number for inner cam bushings is "660", a bronze alloy suitable for that purpose?
    Brass makes a good bell.
    Bronze makes a good sword.

Guy sent me a M74B to rebuild off a 12k mile survivor. Got it apart and I was surprised to see how shiny the bore was and the kaleidoscope of colors that would reflect off of it. Never seen one like that. Wish I had tried to take a pic of it. I guess my question is would bronze reflect like that?

I weld on Linkert bodies with silicon bronze wire and the color is practically indistinguishable.

To have the right to do something is not the same as to be right in doing it.
