    Linkert MR3

    Hi,

I was wondering if you can run an MR carb without a fixed jet?

The holes where the jets go have been drilled out so I made a few plugs and put them in.

The bike starts but when you open the throttle quickly and hold it there the bike dies. Itís obviously not getting enough fuel. If I hold my hand over the 1/2 the mouth of the carb it happily revs.

I have the HS needle almost all the way out and no improvement.

I had a similar problem with the M53 on my race bike and I solved it by putting in a fixed jet.

    Thanks
    Dave

Find someone who could weld up the hole, drill and tap the correct size...

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input.

I think you’re right Mark. I was hoping someone would say I run mine without jets and it works fine

    Hi Dave.

The MR-3 did not come with a fixed main jet.
Make sure you have the low speed air bleed jet in place though, as it does`nt get air bleed around the LS needle as choke equipped Linkerts of the same period would.
If you don`t have it i suggest you try the LS air bleed jet off of a M53 as a starting point

Oh and Dave, make sure you have the correct needles for the MR-3. Look to intothewilderness for pictures to compare, and to get the correct needles if you don`t have the correct ones.
