    41wldr

Not that I'm in the market but there's a 41WLDR motor and a few WR bits for sale on eBay

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/harley-1941...a0f4%7Ciid%3A1

I'm trying to work out if these numbers are the real deal or not. So far I've had more no's than yes's

Those cylinders are either WLDR Special ("valves close to the bore") or WR with multi-angled (splayed) valve guides, IDK which.
The std. WLDR cylinder has the exhaust valve seat much farther away.
Looks like 1 intake seat has been repaired with an insert.

Somebody stamped a 3 in front of the year 48. What year would 348 be?

Has that intake manifold been brazed together ? Kinda looks like that to me , but I'm no expert.

rob,the 45" from that era cases [1948] had a 3 before the date on bottom numbers according to Palmers books.
Also the right side case for a '41 WLDR should be setup for a magneto, not a generator. The idler area is different. The WR went to timer position mag in '48.

48 cases with a 41 vin. Must be a race special. Where all your motor have the same vin.

Not so, '41 WLDR was offered as a street model one year only and came equipped with a generator, the new for '41 WR was front mag only. The timing cover he shows is the correct type for a '41 WLDR, the mag could be had as a kit and has a "D" shaped plate to create the flat base. The figure 8 hole in the cover was to accommodate either assembly.

    Top to bottom,
    WL, G
    WLDR
    WLDR Special (ball Bearing)
    WR (ball bearing)
