    Does anybody know the valve spring install height on a 40 scout or have a repair manual with the spec? Thanks

    On the linked page, the 1st picture shows "162 #/inch" for the Starklite spring.
    That's certainly not correct.

    Farther down, a reference to "The recommended spring pressure rates is around 130 pounds with the valve closed, and around 350 pounds when approaching lifts of .500"".
    This is just s l i g h t l y more at 440 #/inch.
    The math: open pressure - closed pressure ÷ lift
    350 - 130 ÷ .500 = 440

    The answer: he has confused "#/inch" with "pressure @ 1.000"" assembled height.
    Apples/oranges.

    Thanks for the link I did catch that mistake,but he doesn't give an install height just pounds for spring pressure.
