    Golden Tools

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/143381359843?ul_noapp=true

Check this auction out, I was interested but it's now (for me) crazy money and given the poor exchange rate US to NZ $$ I dropped out without even bidding. The roll is so clean surely its Repo, but what do I know......

Oh and then there is the ebay freight ripoff, $77US to New Zealand.

    Re: Golden Tools

Well, $77US works out at about $127NZ. Given that this item might weigh about 4-5 pounds, I reckon thats about $15.40NZ per pound. I would suggest about half that would be fair.

I mean, I weigh about 205 pounds. My airfare to San Francisco 2 months ago cost $700NZ one way. That works out at $3.41 per pound. Not only that, but I got free in flight movies, food, and a free beer. My package of spanners in the cargo hold (hypothetically speaking) got none of that.

Not that any of this will stop me spending money on this cursed hobby of ours, I just adds a significant factor to consider with every purchase.

Mr Big, Does it grate you that you (probably) put a fair bit of time and effort into rebuilding carbs and see the transporter charge that much for a fraction of effort?

    Cheers

Don't even get me started on what Paypal does to us.

The exchange rate didn't move from 63 cents but when I bought something from the US they charged me 61 cents and when I sold something to the US in the same week they charged me 65 cents. Plus all their fees!

I've started asking ebay sellers if they would just take it to the post office rather than charging eBay's crazy shipping prices and if they say no I don't bother. I work too hard to give my money away :-)

U.S sellers are required (forced) to use tracking. You can open a DHL or Fedex account. Then print a pick up slip and email it to the seller. That will take the exchange rate out of the equation. It also takes shipping fees away from the seller. If you have heavy items in larger boxes. Use sendmybag.com. They charge $145 for 48 pounds from USA to FRANCE. Fedex wanted $640. Here's the kicker. Fedex pick up the package from me.Flew it to FRANCE and delivered it in France.

I just looked it up, if I take a Medium Flat Rate Priority Mail to the Post Office. My cost of postage is $82.20 USD. To New Zealand & this doesn't include the deduction Paypal will take.
