    Take a hard look at the gear.
    (No biggie, got a new one on order.)



    Love that Jim's tool, makes easy work for installation of the snap ring.



    Powder Coated cast aluminum oil pump fits right in ... I like it !
    (Kinda looks like it was cast from Alum.)

    Old camera took a crap and these two pictures are from my new (Bought used) Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 ...
    Trying to get use to operating it, got a Android in it, and it talks to me .. !!!

    Got around to doing a look at the back-lash ...

    Not good... It's as tight as bark on a tree ....

    Coil bind right at Max valve lift for the J-4 ....
    ..... Well poo .....
    That means I'm going to need another set of springs .. !!

    With this newest problem having been found since the cam change to the Bad-Boy J-4, here's my game plan to cure this little hiccup.....

    What I would like to see is some Black Diamond Race Flow Tulip head SS valves going in em ...
    Do a little bowl blending, 3 angles on the seats and a .600 lift. 150-160 lb close seat pressure, Titanium retainers, 10* keepers, chrome silicon spring kit ...





    And if I get rid of the cast-iron guides and install ampco 45 guides, can get the speck down to around a 0.001" on both in. & ex.
    No need for stem seals, at least not for a longggg while !!

    Shoot, as long as I'm filling Santa's wish bag .... These critters would also be on that wish list too ....



    These items would need to be approved by the owner ...

    I kinda lost my faith in Santa since he skipped me last year ..
    Didn't even get a lump of coal ...
    But did find out why ... ??
    Seems that some Jolly Joker laced Santa's cookies with Viagra, and he got stuck in a chimney for half the night !!! ..

    Last order for parts went out today .. (I hope)

    These re-pops came in awhile back .... Looks to be well made ..

    Chrome came in ...



    Should be seeing these show up anytime...



    They are oversize in order to tighten up the lifter block bores ... (The holes are there to lighten up.)
    Got a bit of honing to do ...

    The motor had alum. pushrods in it when it came in ...
    Not going to be re-installing them, their still good, but going with a set of S&S Chromoly ..
    Also got the "OK" to work the heads ... An order for valves, guides and a spring kit will be made shortly .. !!

    Taking a break from the 51 till some parts come in.

    So I jumped on a job that is mine...
    This is something that I been sitting on for a long time cause it's not needed at this point in time.
    What I came up with was a set of Shovel early, first year 80 inch jugs... And they are at Std bore for 3-1/2"
    Going to put them on the 52 Pan/Shovel .. The jugs that are on it are 74" Shovel bore 0.030" over with a set of Doc Dutch stroker pistons for 4-3/4" stroke...

    Nothing is bad with what the scoot has, runs the best ...
    Just like the idea of 0.030" more bore and the thick base flanges ...

    Now my bike is pretty nice .. These jugs are rough as a corn cob. So a bit of work will go down cleaning up the casting before throwing on a nice powder coat job ..





    This takes a bit of time to do, got a few spots that will be filled with weld and dressed in..

    Guess the biggest reason I'm doing this swap is to back down on the compression from 10.5:1 to 9:1 ...
    I'm getting old and kicking it is a PITA....

    Even had thoughts of Russ Peterson's RSES ...



    Bought one ... Looked at it for half a year .... And sold it to a Buddy ...

    If it wasn't for the Speed-E-Shifter going to be a major problem with working a cable clutch I might have put it on ...



    All this work I'm putting into the jugs is just for looks ...
    Gotta pop a couple caps from my 357 mag to use the shell casings for plugging the oil drain holes and cut a poor boys (O-Ringing, sorta) step on the head gasket surface ....







    The above photo shows the cut that I did on a EL Knuck jug. what it does is allow for a bit more crush on a fire-ring head gasket...

    Back to the 51 Fl ....

    Was after some chromolly pushrods, seems that they are no longer on the market...

    Might be considered to be overkill, but what I have heard the owner is a bit of a Gearhead so overkill might be a good idea especially with high seat pressure valve springs in play ...

    Going to make em ...
    Found 4130 tubing (.065" wall) and got new ball-ends coming from Colony ....

    On my stuff ...



    Getting closer .... Going to do the other jug before I jump too with the welding ...
    Might have a need on the other ...

    Time to hone the blocks ..



    Wont take long cause these are only 0.005" oversize ....

    And the new 13 Tooth Gen gear fell right on the end of the shaft, got bout .030" lash ...
    Time to drown the splines with Red ...

    And that job is now out of the way ...
    All bores in the blocks cleaned up super well with the .005" over's ..







    Those oil block-off screws was a wast of time ...
    Can anybody tell why that is on this motor ...
