Is there any way (other than on the bike) to test a cut out relay?

I need one and found an original. Is there any kind of bench test you can do? I'm an absolute idiot when it comes to electrics.
    Thanks!

Adjust the gap of the contact to 0,015, connect it to a voltage-adustable power source and the points should close at 6,3 to 6,8V

Those dang doohickeys get me every time! Especially with the old cloth covered wires. The cloth doesn't hold the smoke in as good as the plastic covering they use nowadays. That's the whole key to electrics is keeping the smoke trapped inside the wires. Once the smokes starts leaking out, you're pretty well done for.

Nah, smoke is easy, just get some of this. Works on American stuff since it is Whitworth and still Imperial measure like us.

I get a kick out of so many thinking modern wiring is so much better.I work on late model electrical nightmares & prefer the old nightmares.Tiny wires, fuses & relays in modern stuff does not last the test of time.Even a short time!
