    45 Solo Speedo Drive Unit finish question

    I am missing the speedo drive unit, retainer and screw on my '49 WL and have not had any luck finding an original so I'm going to have to get a repop until I can find one. I can't find what the finish was on the drive unit and retainer in my 1st Ed. Palmer book. Can anyone tell me if they were cad plated or parkerized?

    Mine looked to be cad plated.

    My 50 WL was Cad Plated.
    98 FLSTC TRIKE
    60 VW TRIKE-HOMEMADE
    68 TRIUMPH 650 TIGER CHOPPER

    War years are Parkerized. Civie was Cad.

    My war bike was cad. I put it together with nos parts and the housing was military packaged.

    much of the 1950 & later WLA NOS stuff was cad

    Cad parts for early 1942 type III wla below.

    Speedometer:
    lamp knob stem
    lamp knob screw
    body
    trip meter reset
    trip meter hole cover
    cable housing
    drive housing

    Sorry for slight hijack of this thread.
    I recently bought some speedo drives that appear unused but unwrapped and badly stored. Stamped on the hexagon is SW94125. Are these genuine or early aftermarket?

    Sounds like the real deal to me. Post some pics for verification.
