Ah, those stubs may be only the connection to the air box.
Still many cars and bikes with the air horn positioned so that air passes over it.

That's all the loving it's going to see from me ...
Wasn't going to polish under the intake cause once the carbs was mounted up, you would need to stand on your head to see under there...
But ... What the hay ... I hit it a lick anyways ...!!

That is still a lot of weight to balance on one support.I often add extra support/supports to the air filter to those adjustable mounts.

    Grand idea ....

Been in the think tank on adding more support ...

But going out to the air cleaners is a long ways from the motor.
I would hate to do it, but have thought about making up tabs to weld to the P-Series heads and run down to the top of the carb adapter .. ???

This mount might be a bit more Heavy-Duty than the S&S mount...

Had to trim a bit in order for the lifter blocks to sit down where they need to ...

Didn't need much, just enough to slide a piece of paper between the two parts ..
Next to do is remove the case stud, shorten it and thread about a half inch further up ...

Carb mount is done .... Yippy-Ki-Yi-Yaaaaa

Another fitment problem came to light ....

No room for the intake seal and worm clamp ...

A bit of grind time took care of that problem ....

Lookin good! I do enjoy custom builds more than resto type work.I've cut clearance for clamps many times.
