Thread: 1942 WLC front marker light routing question

  1. 1942 WLC front marker light routing question

I am hoping someone can post a picture of the underside of a ‘42 WLC front fender.
I need to have a visual reference of the wire, tube, grommet and clip routing/mounting.
I’m in the dark here ! Any help is appreciated,
    Jim

Just a guess but I would bet it is routed like a WLA is. Go here http://forum.sscycle.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12410 You will have to scroll through all the pages but that routing is in there.

I have never found any photos of an original 42WLC wire route I have 43WLC pics and there almost the same as a 42WLA.
The 42WLC wire tube is 8 inches + longer than the 43C or WLA.
Judging by the existing holes in the fender of my 42 the wire entered through the fender the same as the other models.
must have been held by two clips mounted to the tool box foot bolts on the right side of the fender.
That's how I've mounted it on my machine.
If you find any hard info please share it here.

Thanks Paps, that thread is amazing. I lost track of time! Couldn’t see what I needed. Rd.king, yes I agree it routes along the tool box foot bolts. I need to know where the tube terminates at the rear of the fender. Does it go through the sheet metal ? Or does it exit the tube and exit through a rubber grommet ?
Picture would be worth a thousand words.

Yes i goes through the metal on the right side about two inch off center under the fork.
No grommets on the WLC's the tube exits the fender at both ends.
here's an original 43 WLC from Bob's bike
    note how it's set up

See pictures in Palmer's SE Military 'How to..' page 184.
As the text clearly mentiones; they were all done the same way.

    That's a fairly general statement.
    "All done the same way"
As the marker lights on all 3 models 42C 43C 42A where all different and mounted in different locations
"all the same way" is relative.
