Wink Look what followed me home from Opotiki!

    Hello Gents

I have a new (to me) WLA. It has Russian war provenance and its story is that it saw action from Russia through to Hungary when the war finished. Unrestored, several bits of repop including some cool CCCP marked bits. I have quite a bit of work to do to get her running and look forward to it. She came with plenty of old documents to support provenance including US Army manual and some Russian documents.

My current thinking is to present her unrestored a Lend Lease Russian bike, maybe a red star somewhere and I guess this means a PPSh41 for the repop scabbard.

Waiting for Mr Palmers book to arrive and in the meantime I am working my way through every WLA thread on this site.

Pictures? I just wasted 45 minutes of my life relearning PhotoBucket from my notes, failing,so had a crack at Image Shack with managing to get a single pic onto either site.

I guess I have to go back and rejoin the silent majority that the photo BS keeps from joining in....Sighhhhh

Congratulations on your WLA, looks like the one at auction you posted about before. Looks a solid bike.

    Congrats on your buy!
Start with the engine-number (VIN) and proceed from there.
    Nice bike!
The combination flat fender and low ammobox isn't correct, but you'll read that in Palmer's finest.
Please do give this ex-soviet warrior the red star: honour its past!

Congrats on the WLA score. Since the engine cases are bare metal I would guess an early type III though not knowing the numbers on the cases.

So here she is. Lots of wrong bits and some, ok, quite a bit of repop. All comments welcomed. As I said previously, I want to tidy her up and present her as a Russian bike. More pics to follow.

Close up. Anyone spot the missing bolt/stud?

Check out the cool CCCP stamped parts. Cold war repop?

Definitely not OEM, anyone know when the Russians made these?

This came with the WLA. A friend who can read this tells me it is the Technical log book for (hopefully this) motorcycle.
