Make sure your kicker gears aren't mounted in the 45 gear case!

Road trip ! picked this little gem up in the Drift-less area of Wisconsin.....Man the Lacrosse Wis area is so beautiful spring and Fall. The river bluffs , eagles, pictures can't describe it. Anyone here needs to experience it at least once! 400 mile 7 hours round trip. And the guy I bought if from was like an episode of the american pickers......I could of spent hours looking at all his stuff....No motorcycles but he had everything else. I'm going back. He had a Wilton vise I wanted but he wouldn't give it up....And he's looking for old Harley stuff for me now

these are crappy pictures until I figure out how Im gonna get it out of the truck by myself. It's a Southbend 9" dated between 1931-1937 for now. And from what I've researched it's earlier than what they called a Model C. Model 415 I think. Still digging into it. Everything seemed really tight. and the gears are all nice comes with a full set of manual change gears.....not like I'm really gonna thread something. I have no idea how to use a lathe....but now I can learn. It's probably wore out who knows but it's still cool......I'm still looking for an old Wilton vise. I really need one.

You cab still obtain reprint operators manuals with exploded views and parts numbers to boot for that lathe. I may have a link stored somewhere for that imforamation. I will look.

A lathe is a great addition to any shop. I like my Craftsman branded Atlas I picked up some time back. It was virtually new for the princely sum of $400 on eBay in the Denver area. I used these little Atlas lathes a lot in the early '70s, and the 12" swing and quick change box make them great for a home shop.

    Robbie
You did well in buying that Atlas/Craftsman.
It seems machinery sells for a premium the further you get West of the Mississippi.
