Thread: 1948 Flathead restoration

  1. 1948 Flathead restoration

    Hi Guys,
I am busy with a 1948 flathead restoration, it currently has a lot of chrome on it that needs to be redone.
But it also seems there is extra chrome work,
Could you help me identify the pieces that would of been chromed from factory.
Really like to get this bike a close to factory as possible.

    thanks

All the chrome finished parts are listed in Palmer's 2nd edition (there aren't many). But a proper intro in the new members section will put you ahead of things. And pictures of what you are dealing with are best.

Here is the front and back of the factory order form. Note the Deluxe Solo group, it shows what was available in chrome, also the back side shows what extra accessories could be ordered from the factory to be included on a new bike.

thank you! i was quit confused with seeing so many variants on the same year bike, was not sure what was right or wrong. but by looks of it they all right , just different specs.
