    42 WLA question

Could someone educate me on the numbers on this bike please. I looked at Chris's website for comparison and the 2's look different along with the WLA look skinnier and taller.

I wish the seller had clearer photos because I cannot see whether the number boss has been tampered with or not.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I kinda like this bike if the price stays around where it's at but the blurry photos are concerning me.

They were not stamped at the factory.

Not consistent with factory stamping for 1942. Normally for 1942 I would expect a vertical serif at bottom right of the 2s but I don’t see it. The 4 is intriguing but I wouldn’t expect to find that particular closed-top style in this situation. Maybe later, and perhaps in a different location. Anyway, notice its horizontal stroke does not extend as far past the vertical stroke as in my example below. And I cannot see a serif across the base of the 4 like in my example.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I am starting to learn a thing or two from you guys. A year ago I wouldn't of even paid any attention to the numbers.

Note that the letters/numbers used on that case are larger in overall dimensions than H-D used, so even if the serifs and profiles matched it would still be incorrect.
