    WLA gear shift

I really struggle to select 2nd & 3rd on my WLA. It seems that when I shift, it's pretty hit and miss to find the gear and sometimes I struggle so much to find a gear that I lose speed and end up stalling out.
Is it common that the gear selection should be so fine or can this be adjusted out?
This is my first and only HD/tank shift so have no experience with this so any help appreciated.
    Thanks, Peter

Should be easy to adjust 3rd being as far as the lever will move.

Look at the shifter cam plunger ball tension screw on the top front right side of the gearbox. It may need tightened.

    Re: WLA gear shift

Check your clutch adjustments to make sure its set correct. Also put the gearbox in neutral, undo and remove the bolt and nut where the linkage meets the gearshift lever on the tank( loosen the lock nut on the linkage first). Put the lever on the tank in the neutral postion and check that eye of linkage lines up with hole in lever if not adjust and re-assemble.
If all checks out and you checked whats Paps adviced you, you may have to look deeper. If you have been forcing box you may have bent a selector. The shift dog may be damaged + gears.

    Re: WLA gear shift

I had to rebuild the gearbox to finally solve it.
I replaced the 2nd/3rd clutch gear and both selector forks and shimmed to get correct spacing as specified in my manual.

So the problem was worn parts and could not be adjusted out.
Great learning experience for me though.
    Thanks, Peter
