    1963 xlh

Couple questions. I bought this 63 XLH from the original owner last week. Not much needs done. Few questions I have that I am not certain of. Has wrong front wheel. These came with a steel 18Ē? Also I have several chain guards and one is much longer. Anyone know which is correct. Canít seem to find a solid answer.
With this bike also came the original sales slip and order form. Original owner ordered it in hifi purple and in 1968 painted it blue. I would like to have it painted back to the purple. Canít seem to find any of these of the net in that color. Does anyone have a example? Thanks in advance.

Your front wheel, and possibly, forks are 64 thru 1969. The fender supports appear to have the reflector hole, which makes them 69-early 73. The XLH usually had the short chain guard.

Yup, your front wheel is -70 or later... 18" front & rear on Xlh's, steel was standard, aluminum an option. Also looks like it has a modified version of the stock "Dual seat"... Here's a somewhat pale pic of the Hi-fi purple

I am aware of the front whee and hub. I believe the original owner got it with aluminum because he swears he still has it but canít find it. If and when he does he will give it to me but personally I like steel wheels better.

I’m sorry, I’m new to using Imagawa hack since photobucket is a pain now. Trying to get picks to come up bigger.

Sorry guys. I’m thrown off with the pics.
Anyways is there and informational sites or books on the early sportsters similar to palmers that give detail as to finishes and parts.

www.harleykmodel.com has some good info on early Sportster. You won't find anything like Palmers level of information details for Sportster but that site is a start.
