    Build the '63s. Easy to get oil to the top end, far more so than matching cases from different eras.

    I have the 63 pretty much built Rob,I just need to put the heads together.I would like to get the 66 to a usable point so I can either use it or sell it

    I needed to find out what the measurement is for the deck.I cam up with a proud 5", 5.02" crudely measured...

    Even crudely measured, many an engine needs shimmed on the mounts.

    This is true Tom but not always the case. When engine cases are machined there is a plus and minus tolerance. The engine case motor mounts are never exactly as other engine case machining, They are close but not exact. Same goes with the frame machining. They are close but not always exact. .010" to .030" difference is not uncommon between engine cases and frames. It pays to snug up either the front or the rear mounts to the engine and check for gaps. My WLA was off .015" equally across the rear motor mount of the engine and frame. Shim stock fixed that. My frame is straight. The gap was equal across the whole rear motor mounting.

    The dimention I am refering to wouldn't have much effect on mounting but it could effect compression ratio....
