REGGIE PINK .... ( This will take 3 postings)

2077 SOUTHERN BOULEVARD , NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. ....... 295 CENTRAL AVENUE, WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.

Born in New York City on April 23, 1899
Pink died on February 15, 1962 at the age of 62.

Reggie Pink was a key figure in motorcycling from the 1920s to his death in 1962. Pink is best known for becoming the first major importer of British motorcycles to the United States in the 1920s. A racer, a motorcycle dealer and an AMA official, Pink was one of leaders of the sport and helped formulate rules for Class C racing, which became the basis for today's AMA Grand National Series and AMA Superbike Championship.

Pink opened a store in the Bronx in 1927 and became the first major U.S. importer of Ariel, BSA, Triumph and other British makes. In 1931, Pink took on Indian motorcycles, and in 1944, the dealership switched to selling Harley Davidsons exclusively. The White Plains store opened in 1948. Pinkís son Donald took over the family business after the senior Pink died in 1962. During the 1940s, Pink opened two Harley-Davidson dealerships in the New York City area.

The first Triumph motorcycles didnít reach the U.S. as dealer-sold products until 1937, when Reggie Pink became the Stateside Triumph distributor.

Just to show the youngsters he was stil around, Reggie rode a modified endurance run in 1951 (He was 52), and won.

The two awards in this pic that look like overlapping circles ar Crotona awards. The circles have numbers like a clock face to depict the 24 hours.
