Installing exhaust on an old Harley is like tryin' to cut your own hair.
Hmmm, I've cut my own hair since I was a teenager. Comb and scissors, and probably saved enough over the years to buy a Knucklehead at today's prices. And yes, exhausts can be a lesson in patience, but cut and shut is the key for aftermarket crap.

Could you post a picture of the "Y" pipe you have Chris? Just to compare oem.

Certainly. I need to anyway bring the muffler down so I will post a couple later. If truly oem, the experts here will tell!

I am uploading some pics from Google Photo - new to me: the links work but did not find yet how to have embedded photos directly in the forum...

You will see the y-pipe, 38knuckle - I can't tell 100% sure if it is OEM... Somebody here will certainly do.

Regarding my main "challenge", the s-pipe, I think it is beyond repair and/or easy fix with silicon... There is even a tiny hole at the upper end of the bottom third so wall thickness is almost gone in good half of the length.

If there is anybody willing to sell me a nice s-pipe please PM me. I take all responsibility for the shipment costs, of course, and the risks if lost on the way. Finish does not matter because since I have the exhaust pipes corrugated covers on them.

    Thanks!!

Can we please be serious here? We are dealing with a dramatic s-pipe condition...

My apologies. OEM - Will fit. Repop - There might be some that are workable. My issue was with the front repop header I tried and it wasn't even close. Good luck and if you try to cut your own hair please send after pics.....

I saved even more when I was a teenager. I didn't cut my hair....I just sat on it or wore a ponytail.

Bend isn't so good. Look at the S-pipe in my build thread for comparison.
I have a Dixie rear, I will post pics soon.

Adam has experience with different rear header pipes. I'll let him comment, some are better than others.
