    Newspaper Mats?

    Found these. Thought they were interesting. Envelopes has newspaper Mats hand written on it. Anyone seen these before?

    They were newspaper ad dies. They weren't free ether. The dealer had to pay for them. Everybody from autos dealers to refrigerators dealers used them. This is how the local newspaper would set up you ads. Bob L

    H-D provided a book to the dealer every year of Cuts and Mats available. the dealer then ordered the ones they were interested in. Most small dealers did not participate as the cost was high.

    Those are pretty cool, can you read the date on the postage meter stamp? I bet if you (or anyone) were to re-read Harry Sucher's Iron Redskin you might find info on when Indian was marketing AJS/Matchless and the Papoose to their dealers after they quit making motorcycles and continued for a short while as the Indian Sales Company.

    The "Papoose" being an Indian branded Brockhouse Corgi, itself a variation of the WWII Excelsior Welbike...

    Postage meter stamp is very hard to read. Looks like February 1950. Is there any value to these things today? I have 25 of them. Some are duplicates
