Yes that correct, an FF1 slip ring has a contact 360° around the pick up area, and they use the same slip ring for the clockwise and anti-clockwise magnetos, and they use the same cam rings as well.

The v-twin slip rings have a segmented contact and have different slip rings for the clockwise and anti-clockwise magnetos, and they also have different cam rings as well.

old1926, the slip ring you've got is correct for a single cylinder magneto.

    thanks for clearing that up
i actually came across a Bosch service spare parts manual for the FF1,FF2,FFv magnetos today
    so i printed one off
the manual states slip ring or correctly called the : interrupter housing for FF anti clockwise & clockwise magnetos
is part no : ZNC 9/1
the points or as the manual calls it the : interrupter, so there is a clockwise interrupter part no : ZUB 10/2 ( stamped R )
    and a anticlockwise interrupter part no : ZUB 9/2 ( stamped L )
and for the FF1L S51 Harley magneto the manual is saying the slip ring/interrupter housing with stop pin is
part no : NY 453/4 , is this interrupter housing the same as the FF1R,FF1AR etc but uses a different part no due to being for Harley Davidson's? or dose this have the hole in the side of it for the short circuit/cut out terminal like the 1926 BA1f magnetos?

and also thanks to all for the valid information , knowledge and info on these little buggers is scarce , it's a dying art restoring them these days, few too many are doing it and the ones that are keep pretty tight lipped about there trade secrets

It certainly looks like one, and is that possibly a Harley part number? I haven't got a parts book on hand to check it against.

according to the 1922 to 1927 Harley spare parts manual the part no: 1829-27 is the slip ring for the 1927 twins
the Bosch magneto manual calls it a collector ring part no:ZSL-5/1
so knowing it has a Harley part no: i would say it's definitely for the Bosch FFVR S56 or the FFVL S45 and from what i can gather they use the same slip ring/collector ring
and the FF2A and FFVA magnetos have a clockwise collector ring/slip ring part no: ZSL 13/2 & anti-clockwise collector ring/slip ring part no: ZSL 13/1
of which Harley's use the FF1AL S43 and by looking at the assembly parts drawing the collector ring looks a lot thinner than yours

learning the correct lingo for magneto parts is a bit new to me and are still learning about magnetos in general, up until having a magneto spare parts manual
i was calling the interrupter housing the slip ring so i hope i have done my research wright and if i haven't i am sure some one will correct me for you as there are
a lot of top fella's on here with a lot more knowledge than me

    Hello,

cdg999 and old1926 -thank you very much for comprehensive answer:-)

This part I bought with a bigger set and did not know what exactly it is - now I know.

I do not need it so I can swap or resell it.

It's the same as long as the two magnetos are built to spin the same way. (Counter Clockwise vs. Clockwise)

Usually Bosch stamped at least the first cylinder (I), aka the rear cylinder.

A ZEV that has I and II left to right is a CW. Vise Versa for a CCW.

It is confusing when you look at them as the brushes are on the other side of the magneto....

Pretty sure this is what you're asking...
