Thread: 1970 FLH Reflectors

    1970 FLH Reflectors

Two questions, or is it three, maybe four??

1- Part # for the front fender amber reflectors? Is 59254-69 the right #?

2- Part # for the rear saddle bag red reflector? (no suggested part # on my end) Are they the same as front just in red, same SAE # etc?

3- I am assuming the rear reflector on the saddle bag lid should have a hole in the lid with a speed nut on the inside, correct? Can someone give me an inside the lid picture for my reference and some dimensions to locate the hole.

Thanks in advance, usually I take the reflectors off my bikes (they are not Schwinns) but my FLH just looks like they are missing. Trying to source the bits and then install.

4- Anyone have amber or red that they are looking to part with for some $$$?

Thanks in advance for the help and info.

I'm at work, and don't have access to the part numbers, but they are of the speed nut variety. They were used from 69 to 71.

Here's the part # for the red reflectors pt # 59253-69
If you plan on doing the bag lids, you'll also need the vinyl reflectorized decal stickers.
Part # 90943-69 reflector trim right, and 90944-69 reflector trim left.

Here's the yellow reflectors on ebay.

Thanks Ed, that is most of what I needed. The amber reflectors seem to be available from a couple of sources on the Bay, red's seem harder to find. And yes I already picked up the decal stickers for the lids, but I appreciate the heads up. If the reds are too elusive I might go with two sets of amber on a temp basis till the reds can be sourced. Does anyone know if they are identical besides the color?

Still need to know how the rear red went on (hole in lid with speed nut?) with hopefully a pic and some dimensions for the hole (Larry May I am talking to you)

They are identical except for color, both mount with a speed nut onto a stud built into the back of the reflector.

Well Larry tells me he does not own his 1970 any more, so still looking for a picture of inside the lid and a couple of dimensions to locate the hole for the reflector.

    Re: 1970 FLH Reflectors

Well thanks to the Bay I have sourced both sets, amber for the front fender and red for the saddle bags (red is expensive!!!). I also sourced some speed nuts from another member. But I have another question:

    - The amber reflectors came to me with nothing on the back. The red reflectors have what appears to be double sided tape on the back, never used. Which way is correct or did it vary from front to back? I could always remove or add double sided tape as needed, just want to do it right the first time. Thanks.

Quick visual for all of you to help answer the question, everyone likes pics:

So again, amber has no double sided tape but the red do, which is correct? Or are they both correct, MoCo just did it different front and back in 1970. Like I said I could remove or add the tape as appropriate to make it right before installation. Thanks for the guidance.
