The Bay has civilian lids all over, your choice of colors. But since the Police lids do not detach, your never see just a lid, but with some patience you never know what you might see on there. Good luck and thanks for posting.

Well boys and girls, one year later an original paint, in blue and white, set of tanks have been acquired on the Bay!!!! The actual seller was Dale from WTT. I am very happy with the tanks, will try and post some pics later in the week. They need some love but will work for sure. The current plan is to get one dent removed, leak test, clean and seal the tanks then have my body shop give them a good buff out. Then the currents fenders I have will be painted to match the color of the tanks. So happy with this purchase, and really happy that Dale listed the tanks as 68-69, I think that kept everyone away. The Bay came through for sure.

Look in the AMCA magazine for the add for paintless dent repair. There are some posts on here about it. Highly recommend him. You can check under my posts.

Congratulations Bill. Perhaps OP fenders will show up. Of course it will be right after you paint the others!!

    Picture of the two tanks:

The left tank is in the condition I received both tanks. My guess is that at some point the black/chrome panel sticker went bad and the owner removed them and had blue panels painted in there place. Fortunately for me the painter did a terrible prep job, the didn't even scuff the paint. With just a razor blade and a bit of patience I was able to remove all of the blue panel to reveal the beautiful white paint below, scratch free. You can just see the right tank has a slightly whiter center section where the blue paint was removed. Both tanks are now done, figured you would all like the before and after shot.

And yes Robbie, that is exactly what will happen. Case in point, I had given up hope to find these tanks so I had the original tanks (custom painted) leak tested, cleaned and sealed only about three weeks ago planning on a winter paint job. Something else for the swap pile, 1970 tanks all good to go for paint anyone!?!?!?

I am very confident that these will clean up great with a good buff out. A little bit of character in the paint, but that is a match to the rest of the bike. Early Christmas present I bought myself. Next I will start another thread about the petcock.

Right tank sent out to Dent Dynamics MPDR in California to be fixed up. One crease in the front white panel, not a big deal but the top of the tank near the seat has a decent depression that I really would like to see go away. Contacted them via email with pictures, they sent me a quote and shipping instructions. Off it went yesterday via the Brown Truck. They told me one week turn around, so I hope to have the tank back second week of January when you figure in all the shipping time. By then I will have the fenders off and will be ready to bring the set to my painter. I have high hopes that these tanks are going to be real nice once buffed out, or wet sanded or whatever you paint guys do to resurrect old paint.

Tank is back from the Dent Dynamics guy in Cali, looks great, you would ever know the two dents were there. Tomorrow off to my guy to be leak tested, repaired if needed (I am think it will not, but better safe then....) and liner. That will conclude the interior work on the tanks and then we can get to buff and paint. Shovel will be on the rack Sunday for sure to be dismantled. If all goes well she will be in Daytona at the Sunshine meet with her NEW/OLD paint in all of it's glory.
