    Re: New Zealand Indian rally

Went over for the Hawkes Bay Classic MC rally again a couple of weeks ago - not a lot of American bikes there, just 2 741bs and 2 '47 Chiefs. 90% of the other stuff was British and a few BMWs and some modern stuff as well.

    Very shiny 741b

We had to stop for some locals to get past us

    The cops turned up............

........ so some of us finished the day with a beer

There are over 700 steps up to the lighthouse, but we got to be the first in the world to see the sun come up on a new day!

After that was a stop at the countries oldest Pohutukawa tree, reportedly around 350 years old

Then a stop at Tokomaru to check out the abandoned freezing works and old wharf

Finally after a hot days riding bikes it was time to go for a slide down Rere rockslide in a Pink Flamingo

Bin dere bro. The motel a few kliks away is great!!

We had our Labour Day holiday a couple of months ago and a few of us repeated a ride we did in 2016, this time from the other direction. Stayed the night in a country hotel and got in a shed raid on the way home. Not as many pics this time around but still got a couple and there is a short video taken by one of the other riders https://youtu.be/RJIDFk9slXs

The group at top of ski field road

Interesting shed this, in one corner of the main shed there is a replica of what the original HD shed might have looked like on the inside, and then a 741 parked outside it!

2020 Indian rally was part of the Burt Munro Challenge https://www.burtmunrochallenge.co.nz/ where they have a 4 days of racing and bike related goodness.
Again a group of us rode down there and back, about 1200mi round trip for us from the North Island.

Outside the Empire Hotel in Ross

Day 2 was a wet ride, needed a push start after hitting some water on the road too fast and getting the electrics wet

Sun came out again the next day though - Jacksons Bay, south of Haast

    Heading around Lake Hawea

After the races a visit to a truck collection https://www.transportworld.co.nz/

Then a local hardware store that has Burts original bikes https://www.ehayes.co.nz/
