Thread: Wheels Through Time's final exhibit

  1. Wheels Through Time's final exhibit

It looks like the Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley, NC is really closing at the end of this season. They're going to relocate west. That's the bad news.

The good news is that their final exhibit in North Carolina features Police Motorcycles. Its called "MotorCops: A 100 Year Love Affair Between Police and Motorcycles", and runs through Thanksgiving.

I was there for the opening a few weeks ago and it looks great. They have several images and memorabilia on display. And of course they are featuring vintage Police machines. I believe they have added bikes since I was there.

If you go, please note a certain modern FLHTP-I that probably looks out of place. I was honored to be asked to display it in this exhibit, in contrast to the vintage machines throughout the museum. I'm 6.5 hours away and I miss my putt. I'd love to get an update, or better yet a picture, in response to this posting.

I wish I could hang out at the museum to catch some of the stories. While I was there, an officer from a town in Alabama was checking out the radar rig on my bike. I asked him if it looked authentic. He said he didn't know, he used stopwatches. Ah, technology.

  5. Is she the same lady who we saw on Dale's raffle Knucklehead here a while back?

  6. I just can't figure out how you get the big image in the post..... Yes, she's the same girl. She's the reason I'm involved in the exhibit. I was admiring the raffle bike in the lobby and I noticed the girl at the cash register looked a lot like the girl in the poster behind it. She graciously agreed to pose for the image above. She was the one that told Dale about my bike.

She's in several paintings in the museum too, including one the Police exhibit.

I am at Wheels Through Time this week working on the 1931 racer and must say Matt Walksler has done an outstanding job with this Motor Cops exhibit. Well worth visiting the museum to see.

If you can't actucally get here before the muesum closes the end of November, you should visit their web site www.WheelsThroughTime.com and order one of their amazing T shirts or caps. And remember Christmas is coming and these would make great gifts.

The young lady is named Christaline (not sure of the spelling) and she is in the museum most days working at the counter or the gift shop. What a sweetie!
