He looks like Dwayne Hickman of the Dobie Gillis Show.

1958 movie. Dwayne Hickman ....Rally Round The Flag Boys First year for rear shocks ... looks like they painted it and changed the tanks.

I know its a dumb question, and I will forever be shamed for my ignorance of all things Harley. But can someone explain the Ball-O-Gaurd on the tank? What years, was it an option, or aftermarket? thanks

I didn't recognize Dobie Gillis but it looks like axeric did even without the 'Thinker' pose.

I wondered about the 'Ball-O-Guard' too. And the missing, or relocated oil tank... and the unrecognizable tank emblem... and that strange looking rear brake area and chain-guard... and all the extra paint...and whatever that round thing is near the generator...

P-pad: Your GF rides in front. I could drive like (undistracted) that. Shore I could.
Police side oil tank/battery tray, 1954 tanks with emblems. Some kind of weird gen or alt.

Looks like a fan cooled generator to my untrained eye.

    Looked like 1954 tanks 2me:

I remembered that the "Harley-Davidson" appeared alone on the tank for '54, after having the underline for a couple of years. I didn't look up this yella one until you posted. This looks like someone may have made something up or changed to an old set of tanks they had. Fifty-seven and eight tanks had that two-year flat under a plastic circle. Maybe Hollywood took a brand-new Duo-glide and set out to disguise it as something other than a brand-new Harley off a dealer's floor.

Air-cooled gen was also something that came on police bikes to power the 6v. radio sets. So maybe it was a shaved-tank 58 police special with a paint job and couple of civilianizing touches... Basic police bike would have had black forks. The Hollywood bike doesn't have chrome on the fork, they just painted it to match the rest. 'Cheap way to disguise its heritage.

    Here's the other side of a '54:
