Here it is. All the internet and phone service in about 1/4 of NM was knocked out for many hours Fri and Sat AM so I hadn't posted it.

Interesting read, thanks for posting. Now I'm going to have to poke around to see if this record claim was ever made official. I'm also wondering if Walter Davidson's 1908 mark was still the record of standing for 10 years up until 1918. H-D advertised the 1908 record for at least 3 years creatively claiming that it would require another H-D machine to better Walter's mark.

Something I had forgotten I had, an FAM handbook and insert. The cardstock covered booklet is the handbook and the insert has operational info on various makes. There is also a little notice saying from '15 up they will no longer provide info, just the contact information for manufacturers to get the info direct.

And this is a sort of fun but silly booklet in a kind of early comic book style...

I've done some poking around looking for additional info on the Howard Fical economy run and found a few more accounts in other publications. I haven't found anything in regard to his run becoming an "official record". The F.A.M. went out of business in 1919 and was already in a weakened state in 1917-1918. Motorcycle economy contests it seems were prevalent in this period, perhaps brought on by the Great War. I did find that Fical used a Master Carburetor in his run manufactured in Los Angeles by none other than Harry A. Miller.
