    Thanks for the pat on the back Robbie. I am not well knowledge smart on motorcycle mechanics as far as, when changes where made , what years, what make. I can and do most all work on my old pan,I've had it (same one) for almost 50 years. I post stuff and pics that maybe of use or just give somebody a look back in time and help out if I can.I read ever post with hopes that some stuff just stays in my head.Thanks again

    That is a pretty cool page, Robbie. Must have been in response to wartime shortages in fuel and materials, but a good measure of how efficient your choice of transportation can be. Physics says to move a certain mass requires a certain amount of energy, so more mass to move means more energy used.

    A 6000# Suburban with 9 passengers at 150# each comes out to 4.4 pounds of vehicle per passenger weight...I saw one today with a soccer mom and three kids in it...do the math.

    I suspect you are quite right as fuel and oil costs were high and materials in limited supply prior to us being part of the "Great War".
