that what they were doing would turn into what it has?
I'm thinking the guy with the neck tie must have been the bookkeeper, salesman, receptionist.
and the guy in what was a light colored jacket, is that Arthur?

I've always liked that picture. That's Walter in the jacket, and Arthur is to the far right. When you restore an early motorcycle, you see many signs of hand work. My Merkel has numbers stamped into matched components, and you can see mill swirls, and irregular lathe paths. I always think of who made the marks and what their life was like. I wonder how many of the men in that picture continued on with Harley-Davidson?
Eric, would you know what year this was taken? what model engine that is? Thanks for the ID on the lineup.

That engine looks like 1907-08. It has clamps for mounting to the frame and eight case bolts.
The picture was taken in 1907. I know that because I have Herbert Wagner's book "At the Creation". Morgan, if you like that early stuff you should get a copy of that book. It's like going back in time as Herb is a very good writer and adds a lot of background, and color to his research.
Thanks man, I'll look for a copy!

"It's a 1937, and the downside is, it's out of warranty"
It's mandatory reading for the Harley enthusiast. Gives a genuine insight to the real history and inner workings during the early years of Harley-Davidson. Herb Wagner did tons of research before publishing the book.
