    Removing front wheel from springer

Ok I'm trying to take the front wheel off the spring. I removed the socket bolts from the brake drum. Pulled the axle nut and removed the axle. Slide the wheel over to the opposite side of the brake and it doesn't want to clear the axle sleeve. Wheel assemble is pushed all the way over to the side of the springer where it can't go any further. Axle sleeve nut is still on. Should slide over and down but no go. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I know the book says you can pull just the wheel and leave the brake drum; and with a lot of wrasslin' and wranglin' you can. I usually take the drum with the wheel.

    Deflating the tire usually helps.

You're not jokin' about the wresslin' and wranglin' axeric.. I removed the axle sleeve nut but didn't get it all the way past the rocker. Maybe if I get an extra set of hands it'll make it easier. Plus deflating the tire won't hurt. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm guessing that is one of the benefits of running 16 in wheels and fatter tires. I run 18's or 19's depending on the bike and don't have that problem on a straight fork.

I just took mine off the other day. I thought deflating the tire made it worse. Inflated it was thinner and I could push it over further. I finally used the preferred wrestle method. Front fender was wrestled out also. This ought to be a treat when putting back together and trying not to scratch things.
