Remy Delco 3 Brush Relay Cut Out for Old Harleys

I think the cut out relay on my 1929 Harley might be broken and I plan to try and fix it BUT I am curious about recommendations for replacements. Mine is a 3 brush generator and I prefer as stock and original as possible (for us NOT for judging) but understand that is not always a real option.

I know V-Twin MFG and possibly others make repop ones but have no experience with them. Are they worth while or are there other better options - perhaps with relays for other applications - like a tractor or car?

Buzz, I would highly recommend the solid state regulator from Gene Harper. I have one on my 27 JD and couldn't be happier. He has the 2 and 3 terminal types. The unit looks no different from the 3 brush relay except for one extra wire that comes out of the bottom and goes into the generator. I get the correct charging rate regardless if the headlight is on or off. The way you wire it into the generator, it converts the gen to a 2 brush and this ups the amps a little ,should the battery demand maximum charge. You actually remove the 3rd brush and throw it away. I'm never over or under charging the battery. Talk to Gene. It was easy to install with Gene's directions. With the stock set up, if I forgot to turn on the headlight the battery would over charge.

or convert it to a 2 brush and use this. I think they are made in Holland....not to be confused with the Chinese cheap knock off that are junk
