    title Q's

Just got a 52 from a widow. Uncut frame, nice motor and trans, hand shift tanks, and 2 extra sets of tanks. She said that this stuff has been in her living room for 20+ years. When he died she had to move it to a storage place. Then that got broke into, so she moved it home and put it up for sale.
    BUT
When they got the motor/title they never titled it in his name. And now its lost. When they got broke into the cops ran the #s on motor, just in case, and found it has been out of system for over 5 years.
How do I get a title? I have a noterized bill o sale

    oh yea, pix coming

Very similiar story with my '69. No record of it in "the system". (9 years ago) I paid $207.00 to a Title Company here in Florida to do all the leg work... and received a title AND tag in 2 weeks. For me, it was well worth the money not to have to deal with the idiots at DMV.

HD Liz from the Shovel forum? Missed you at Davenport. I would do that for sure. Wonder if they still do that? Broadway? or is there a better place?

Stay away from title mills like Broadway. Many states now have independent contractors doing title services WITHIN their own states and approved and overseen by the state DMV. Consequently many states will no longer honor titles from outside services.
Just contact your state (or look on line!) for the regulations concerning lack of paperwork. Most states have a lost title, lost instrument, etc. system for creating new paperwork. It can be tedious but is generally best in the long run otherwise they try to issue reconstructed titles which use assigned numbers. Avoid that at all costs!

I'm with Robbie on this one. check online for required paperwork. That's what I did and it was pretty simple. There were three or four forms to complete. I sent them with the bill of sale and was issued a "rejection letter" . The letter allowed me to get a bond and apply for a bonded title. The bond fee was 100.00. In two weeks, I had the title in hand and in three years, it becomes a regular title

I checked a title service and their bond was 200.00 plus 400.00 for doing the paperwork if memory serves.

Hopefully there is a similar procedure in your state.
