Great to ride my 1936 Harley EL Knucklehead today

Are all '36 Harley ELs as fun to ride as mine or do I have something special?

I have not ridden this bike in over a month yet today I gave it two primer kicks and it easily fired on the first "hot" kick and settled down to a nice even idle in a few seconds.



My friend Charlie joined me at my house on his stunning 1970s Ducati 750GT, and we rode over to the Caffeine & Carburetors gathering in nearby New Canaan, CT. This is an event that is held every few months mostly for the car guys, but bikes are welcome too.

The Knucklehead ran so great I don't want to change anything. It was the oldest bike at the event, but there were a few older cars. Most of the vehicles were BIG BUCKS - Aston Martins, Ferraris, Maseratis, BMWs, Ford GTs, and lots of Porsches. Some deep pockets in that town!



I was only able to get in about 50 miles on the Knucklehead, but they sure were 50 fun miles.

Buzz, I agree, my 36EL is also great to ride and is my favorite old bike rider and also starts very easy, I do enjoy riding my 49 pan as well, Larry

That bike's special alright......but it's probably the extra 10 hp that helmet's giving you that's making the difference. ( :

Right! My daughter was a teacher there at a private school and had some parents who were bona-fide celebrities! I'm happy to hear that in some of those "carriage houses" there resides some special antique iron, and especially encouraged to know they actually take them out once in a while... maybe they even turn a wrench now and then.
