In my attempt to get as good as some of you on spotting a bogus number, please take a look at this on fleabay;

isn't the 6's supposed to have a vertical leg?

There’s more going on than just the number 6, later style replacement cases stamped by Dealer or? Pretty common practice. No way to try & sell a bike with only 3 pictures.

Yeah, that number's as queer as a $3 bill. All the numbers are wrong. Look here (Chris Haynes' page):

Beside the fact that it is stamped into a case that did not exist in '40!Yeah, that number's as queer as a $3 bill. All the numbers are wrong.

Okay, but..... since the stamp pad does not "look" machined off or overly screwed with, could this case be a replacement case that was stamped after the fact?
I'm not buying it, I'm just trying to expand my mind *Jimmy Hendrix playing in the background**
