Cool car! Looks like the engine block is painted a color similar to what AMC painted their blocks from the factory.
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.

thats a color that i found on the block when i got it(i repainted it) came out of a 35 ford truck, but it was a replacement motor from 46-48 era "59" series. 221ci it was totally locked up when i got it, i ended up replacing the pistons with some "popup" canadian pistons, using the original rods, putting another set of valves in, then adding the 1940s edelbrock heads and thickstun intake. i got it to fire but i think the old coil i have wasnt putting out enough spark, it looked real weak. speedway headers, and ford 94 carbs. 8ba generator so i can run 12 volts.

the car itself was a coupe originally. but sometime back in the day it was a dirt track car or something. wasnt very finished being turned into a nice roadster when i got it, so im still in the process of fixing that.

Why was the wheel despoked in the first place..?

because the rims were rotted in half! they sat outside in the woods for nearly 50 years before i saved them. both the rims and the spokes were gone. i told myself that i would save the hubs at least and use them, because they were my grandfathers. they are 1940-43 hubs. i think i wanna run an earlier 18 inch rim on the front, since this was a popular thing to do back in the day. anyway, as far as patina, i was just going to scuff the chrome off the spokes and rim and paint the entire thing black, but the spokes and rim is still pretty nice chrome so if i get an 18 thats in just as good of shape ill paint the hubs and leave the rims chrome.

How did the insides of the hub look, after 'sitting outside in the woods for nearly 50 years'....?
