Hi Murph! I'm still trying to locate the speed grip double white wall tires fora decent price. I found these but they are listed as MT90-16, so I'm not sure if they are the full height tires for a pan. Real cheap though!...Mike http://www.tiresunlimited.com/ALL%20...ko_240_270.htm
Thanks murph, my daughters will be home for thanksgiving . I'll see if they can send you some pics . I have no idea how to do it. Paul
The capacitor has a 63 part number, and should be in the parts book. It mounts I believe to the frame under the seat on later ch and I think off the oil bucket bracket on the early ch in the front. It's not stock on the 61 so any where will work if you mount it clean and tidy. I don't get pics on my cell phone but you can send via email. murph1068@verizon.net
Hi murph, i'm finishing up my 61 ch , i change thev system to 12 volt so i'm useing a 67 wirind diagram can you tell me the capasator number and where i should mount it ? Also i'd like to send you some pictuires of it and get your oppinion. I don't know this computer stuff but could send them with my cell phone . Thanks , paul
On a 59ch there is no ignition switch, just kick it and go. The headlight switch is a three position switch which are tuff to come by. It would mount in the hole in the headlight visor. The center of the switch is off, to the left is low beam, to the right is high beam. The left bar carries the horn button, the right bar carries the kill button. IN YOUR CASE, the switch on the left lower would be high low beam, and the on off switch is just a toggle mounted in the hole of the visor. They went to that style for the 63 model year so the operator did not have to take his hand off the bars while riding to go from high to low beam. Make sense? 59 to 62 ch's had no switch on the lower side of the bars or provisions for them for that matter.
I am at the point that we are starting the wiring and kinda confused on what handlebar switches are correct. I have repop handlebars and I have a left hole looks like horn switch, and underneath hole that looks like a directional type switch. I know that a 59' uses a 71502-55 light switch but have no idea where it mounts. We are also wondering where a ignition or kill switch may go and what type is right? Can you shed any light what is correct and where the switches go?
Does the 59 XLCH use one or two of the 38676-52 cluch cable brackets? One for clutch one for speedo?
Thanks murph! We are getting close and are finishing the clean up and assembly of the motor. Cross my fingers and if I can keep my motor guy motivated we will be scooting by spring!
Hey Murph Its been awhile since I have asked you one of my thousand questions. I do have couple additional, you mentioned that you bead blasted the right side case of your 59. Wondering is there a particular grit or type of bead you used? Do you have a source for the oil line conectors that go into the case? I have searched a couple but no luck. Thanks for all your help!
I only have a '69 XLH photo. It is entirely different.
