Share some of that luck Chris ! My oldest son bought a brand new 4 wheel ricer. He went to do an oil change per intructions, and as he back the drain plug out, the threads came with it. I looked it over and to my eye, the drain plug had be cross threaded at the dealership, when they first assembled it. The dealership stuck my son with the repair costs. In other words.....prove it. Sad to say we've done this to ourselves. While our educational system pushes our youth to aspire to become management, doctors and lawyers (how I don't know), we've ignored the hand and brain skills that made America the land it is. The old shop class where some of us learned to grind valves, make a dovetail joint, or finish wood or metal to accept varnish or primer has been pushed aside for "Vocational School". Those who take it do so to get an easy diploma rather than a skill. Oh sure, we took shop for an easy credit (I did), but the rest forced us to learn to think.

As I said, it's sad.

Hey now! I am blonde and I do a damm fine job......
I might be a bit slow, but I place accuracy, detail, and safety way above speed.
The proverbial "they" tell me that speed comes with experience.
It has been my experience that all the shortcuts I have seen the dealer "technicians" do to get the job done faster either compromise safety or are just outright abusive to the parts at hand.
Explain to a customer that the bolt stripped out when you loosened it.
All the while knowing in the back of your mind that the last "technician" at the dealership just used a 1/4" pnumatic gun to tighten it.

I hate the moral values of the modern dealeships <cough> ahem...sorry.... stealerships. It's all about profit at any cost.
